제목 Biodegradable Hyperbranched Polyesters via Ring-Opening Polymerization of Glycidyl 2-Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate for Drug Delivery Applications
초록 A series of biodegradable hyperbranched polyesters (dHPEs), with controlled molecular weight and polydispersity, were synthesized via oxyanionic polymerization of glycidyl 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (gHEMA). The oxyanionic initiating hybrid polymerization of 1,1,1-tris(hydroxymethyl) propane and gHEMA will result in the formation of dHPEs with ester linkages, thus providing an easy way of introducing ester bonds into a highly branched polymer backbone. The polymers were fully characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance and fourier transform spectroscopy, gel permeation chromatography, matrix-assisted laser-desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry, and differential scanning calorimetry. This is the first example of the introduction of ester linkages into the dHPE backbone resulted in the materials that exhibit good biodegradability and low cytotoxicity. Therefore, dHPEs can be used in drug delivery applications.
