제목 SynthesisandCharacterizationof Copolymercontaining Sulfonated Poly(ether sulfone) and Poly(m-phenylene isophthalamide) segments
초록 Aromatic polyamides such as poly(p-phenylene terephthalamide)(Kevlar), poly(m-phenylene isophthalamide)(Nomex) include high temperature stability and strength, making them attractive in many applications. However, their processability is quite limited due to hydrogen bonding, poor solubility in common organic solvents, and the high melting points. In this study, sulfonated poly(phenylene ether sulfone) and m-phenylene isophthalamide was synthesized by copolymerization to improve its processabilities and to check the possibility as membrane materials for fuel cell application. The synthesized polymers were transformed into proton exchange membranes. The prepared membranes were characterized in terms of the proton conductivity, ion exchange capacity(IEC), water uptake, methanol permeability, and thermal stability. The detailed results will be presented.
