제목 Identify the Ni-Fe hydroxide as water splitting electrocatalyst and the electronic structure and mechanism
초록 Nowadays, many of electrocatalyst are considered which have those two properties. First is low-overpotential of oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Second is cost-reduce of water splitting system. So, non-noble metal OER electrocatalyst has attracted much attention. Ni-Fe based hydroxide is promising candidate in OER. However, their electronic structure and mechanism are not clearly figured. In this research, we report Ni-Fe hydroxide catalyst supported on carbon (Ni-Fe/C) and their electrochemical properties were measured. The overpotential of Ni-Fe/C is 244.8 V at 10 mA cm-2. And Ni and Fe structure of the electrocatalyst (K-edges) were measured to identify their oxidation states and local atomic structure. We acknowledge the oxidation state of Ni changed from 2+ to more than 3+ even 4+ during OER in alkaline electrolytes. But oxidation state of Fe was not changed. In these results, we suggest mechanism of Ni-Fe hydroxide based electrocatalyst for OER in alkaline condition.
