||Silsesquioxane is one of the organic-inorganic materials composed of [SiO1.5R]n, which have inorganic siloxane chain and organic functional group. Generally, Silsesquioxanes show high performance such as high thermal stability and excellent mechanical properties because of siloxane chain. And silsesquioxane can have film forming property and high adhesive due to organic group in silsesquioxane. Silsesquioxane have been reported as random, partial cage, cage and ladder-like structure. In this study, we synthesized epoxy functionalized cage and ladder-like silsesquioxane through sol-gel reaction. Silsesquioxanes were characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). Thermal properties were analyzed thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Mechanical properties were investigated by nanoindentation. Silsesquioxanes exhibited high thermal stability and excellent mechanical properties.
