||In this study, porous carbon beads were prepared from polyacrylonitrile (PAN). A PAN/DMSO solution was added into a deionized water bath containing a surfactant using a syringe pump. The prepared porous PAN beads were irradiated with electron beams, stabilized at 230 °C for 30 min in air, and then carbonized under nitrogen atmosphere. The prepared carbon beads were activated to improve pore structures and specific surface area. The resulting activated carbon beads were characterized in terms of their physico-chemical properties, morphology, carbonaceous and crystalline structures, and electrochemical properties.
