제목 Preparation and properties of Poly(vinyl alcohol)-based nanocomposites films containing clay
초록 Polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) has been used as a barrier coating material due to their high oxygen barrier property. However, the PVA coated film has a poor water vapor barrier level, for reasons of the high solubility of PVA in water. To decrease the water vapor transmission rate (WVTR), the barrier layer was prepared to reduce the water affinity by interaction between PVA and clay. PVA/clay composites are well-studied water and oxygen vapor barrier materials, but their transparency, mechanical strength and water barrier property degrade with increasing clay loading. Thus, we have tried to improve of barrier property by using clay of various sizes in PVA polymer matrix. The polymer coating layer was prepared to reduce the oxygen affinity by interactions and arrangement of molecular structure between PVA matrix and clay of various sizes.
