제목 Synthesis and characterization of the effect on TEMPO as a radical scavenger in anion exchange materials
초록 Recent years have seen extensive research on the preparation and properties of anion exchange materials (AEM). It can be used for a myriad of energy storage and energy conversion applications. A major challenge in the development of AEMs is their stability. Especially high stability of the cationic groups are required. An important aspect of AEMs is the chemical stability of the cationic groups against OH− radical attack. In this study, to improve AEMs stability, we introduced side chain type radical scavenger on the cationic group. Herein, poly(phenylene oxide) containing a quaternary ammonium group were synthesized by quaternization using TEMPO and we accorded a nitroxide functionality via oxidation, successively. Radical site were present in poly(phenylene oxide) based ionomer, which determined with electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy. Detailed analysis of the electrochemical properties by cyclic voltammetry confirmed the chemical reversibility of synthesized ionomer.
