제목 Modulation of visible and near-infrared transmittance based on electrochromic and thermochromic hybrid structures
초록 Electrochromic (EC) and thermochromic (TC) materials exhibit reversible change of their optical transmittances in response to applied electric field and temperature, respectively. Here, we fabricated a monolithic all-solid-state form of EC-TC hybrid devices on single glass substrates for the selective modulation of visible and near-infrared transmittances. EC-TC hybrid devices consist of an EC layer of tungsten oxide (WO3) in contact with a solid electrolyte of Ta2O5 adjacent to TC layer of vanadium oxide (VO2), and these layers are sandwiched between the transparent conducting layers of indium tin oxide (ITO). It was found that VO2 has TC behavior depending on transition temperatures not only at oxidation state, but at reduction state. The TC behavior of the EC-TC hybrid device in H+-intercalated or deintercalated state indicates that luminous and solar transmittance of the device can be regulated with increasing and decreasing temperature. Finally, four-different optical states were realized by using EC and TC behavior selectively, which make it suitable for use in smart windows applications.
