제목 Ion-selective Graphene Oxide Framework for Enhanced Durability of Hydrocarbon Membrane in Vanadium Redox Flow Battery
초록 Graphene oxide membrane provides exceptional ion separation properties, which arise from a regular interlayer spacing (d). However, a larger effective pore size of the laminate than hydrated dimeters of vanadium ions prevents its use in vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB). In this work, we report an ion-selective graphene oxide framework (GOF), d of which is tuned by cross-linking of graphene oxide nanosheets. With exploiting its effective pore size, the GOF membrane is employed as a protective layer to address the poor chemical stability of hydrocarbon (HC) membrane against VO2+ in VRFB. Due to the effective blocking of VO2+, the GOF/HC membrane exhibits much lower vanadium permeability and far longer durability compared with HC membranes. Moreover, a VRFB with the GOF/SPAES membrane achieves an energy efficiency of 89% at 80 mA cm-2 and a capacity retention of 88% even at 400th cycle, which even exceed those of Nafion 115, demonstrating its practical applicability for VRFB.
