제목 Controlled drug release from polysaccharide-based self-healing ferrogel
초록 Ferrogel consists of polymeric hydrogel and iron oxide nanoparticle, and has been often utilized in drug delivery and tissue engineering applications due to on-demand drug release from the gel under the external magnetic stimulation. In addition, introduction of self-healing feature to ferrogel enables its application as an injectable delivery system. In this study, drug release from ferrogel prepared from glycol chitosan and oxidized hyaluronate was investigated. Glycol chitosan was pre-mixed with iron oxide nanoparticles, followed by mixing with oxidized sodium hyaluronate to form ferrogel. A gel disk was prepared and cut into several pieces, followed by application of an external magnet field to the gel pieces in PBS solution. After 10 min, the gel pieces formed a complete disk. In addition, self-healing ferrogel showed a controlled release of bovine serum albumin, a model drug, under the application of the magnetic field. This ferrogel may find useful in biomedical applications.
