제목 Preparation and Properties Characterization of Natural Rubber Nanocomposites Reinforced with Graphene Oxide and Boehmite
초록 In this work, graphene oxide (GO) and high-purity dispersible alumina hydrates (Boehmite) were used to prepare natural rubber (NR) nanocomposites using latex mixing route and melt mixing route. GO was produced by the improved Hummer method and characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The mechanical, thermal, flammable properties as well as the morphology of the rubber nanocomposites were investigated by tensile test, dynamic mechanical analysis, thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), UL 94 test, scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results show that the properties of the NR/GO nanocomposites prepared by latex route are better than that of the melt compounding versions by the tensile mechanical and fractural mechanical properties as well as the hardness. The vulcanization process of NR was slightly affected by the incorporation of GO by latex mixing route. In contrast, GO accelerated the vulcanization process of NR by melt mixing method. By the NR/boehmite nanocomposites prepared by latex route the tensile strength of the materials increased with increasing boehmite content until 5 phr, then it decreased with further increasing of boehmite content. In contrast, the elongation at break significantly decreased by the incorporation of boehmite. The thermal properties of the rubber nanocomposites were significantly improved by adding of boehmite fillers. The flammability of the rubber nanocomposites decreased with increasing content of boehmite and at the boehmite content of above 7.5 phr the material fulfills the UL94 requirements.
