제목 Effects of Polymeric Flame Retardant on PLA : Flame Retardant and Plasticizer
초록 A polymeric flame retardant, PBPP2, was synthesized via two-steps reaction and each step was confirmed by ¹H NMR and FTIR. PLA was polymerized via the ring opening polymerization and its molecular weight was recorded by GPC. The specimens for evaluation were prepared using solution casting method. To investigate the flame retardant effect, limiting oxygen index (LOI) and the vertical burning test were conducted. The thermal degradation behavior was investigated by thermogravimetric analysis and real-time FTIR. For PLA-3, LOI increased 23 % to 30 % compared with the neat PLA, and the maximum-thermal degradation temperature also increased. These results showed that gas-phase flame retardant mechanism was superior to condensed-phase's for PBPP2. Additionally, the mechanical property and the melting behavior were investigated by UTM and DSC, respectively. As a result, this study indicated that PBPP2 can simultaneously act as flame retardant and plasticizer.
