제목 Mixed matrix membranes composed of MgCO3 and comb polymer with enhanced CO2/N2 selectivity
초록 By using commercially available MgCO3 microcrystals and amphiphilic comb polymer (CP) matrix based on poly(ethylene glycol) behenyl ether methacrylate (PEGBEM) and poly(oxyethelene methacrylate) (POEM) synthesized via a facile free radical polymerization, the mixed matrix membranes(MMMs) for CO2/N2 separation were prepared. Because there are specific interaction between carbonyl oxygen atoms of CP and MgCO3, the use of a CP improved the dispersion of the MgCO3 in ethanol without agglomeration of the filler or polymer, indicating that the CP is an effective dispersant. The existence of interactions, morphologies, and structure of CP/ MgCO3 MMMs were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), N2 adsorption-desorption isotherm measurements, wide-angle X-ray scattering (WAXS) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The highest CO2/N2 selectivity (93.8) and good CO2 permeance (30.9 GPU) were obtained at a CP/MgCO3 MMM with 45 wt% MgCO3. This performance is higher than other MgCO3 MMMs prepared using the commercially available polymers such as PEBAX (polyether block amide) and poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO).
