||Silica aerogel is nanostructured-material with high surface area, high porosity, and ultralow thermal conductivity. It caused by nanoporous structure, so it has a number of applications such as thermal insulator, acoustic absorbent. However, the silica aerogel have poor mechanical properties owing to its nanoporous structure. One of the good methods to strengthen aerogel is the composition of aerogel and fiber matrix. In general, silica aerogel blankets have been synthesized by ambient drying technique using non-chopped fiber as the reinforced material. But this preparation method is vulnerable to poor dispersion of silica aerogel into the blanket. To improve the degree of dispersion of silica aerogel, chopped-fiber was employed to prepare well-dispersed silica aerogel blankets. To evaluate degree of dispersion of aerogel in the blanket, thermal conductivity and dispersity was investigated by scanning electron microscope images.
