제목 Correlative Effects of CNT Length and Bulk Density on the Electrical Properties of Polycarbonate/Multiwall CNT    Nanocomposites
초록 Theoretical percolation studies have established the direct relationship of percolation threshold of CNT to the tunneling distance – which is dependent on CNT length. However, the exceptional properties of CNT cannot be manifested if the nanotubes are not well-dispersed into the polymer matrix. In this work, the combined effects of CNT length and bulk density to the electrical performance of PC/MWCNT composites were studied. Three types of multiwall carbon nanotubes with different lengths were melt-mixed with PC in a twin screw extruder followed by injection and compression molding. It was found that the electrical conductivity of the nanocomposites is dependent on both CNT length and bulk density. Longer carbon nanotubes provide shorter tunneling distance for electrons to form a conductive pathway while CNT with lower bulk density provide better dispersion which are both favorable to electrical conductivity.
