CONTACT-ANGLE MEASUREMENTS ON SAMPLES WITH DISSIMILAR FACES BY WILHELMY MICROBALANCE
Two model systems (glass plates and polyimide films), modified on one face by different techniques, have been analysed using a Cahn microbalance. The results show that if the sample immersion is vertical, (i.e. the effect of net horizontal component of surface tension is negligible), the obtained force vs. depth immersion data can be adequately treated to calculate the contact angles of dissimilar faces.
