Comments on the Nature of Piezoelectric and Magnetostrictive Phase Distribution in Pb(Zr0.53Ti0.47)O-3-CoFe2O4 Composites
The measured coupling coefficients for 0-3 type multiferroic composites are usually inferior to the theoretical prediction. To pole these composites, it is important to inhibit the percolation of the low resistive magnetostrictive phase in a piezoelectric matrix. To yield 0-3 type composites, a synthesis process has been optimized to homogeneously disperse cobalt iron oxide (magnetostrictive) in the lead zirconate titanate (piezoelectric) matrix. The analyses of the impedance spectra in conjunction with structural and microstructural features of these composites could be a valuable tool to understand the nature of the piezoelectric-magnetostrictive interface for an effective elastic coupling.
