Lithium silicic oxynitride composite as electrode material for lithium-ion batteries
Lithium silicic oxynitride composite was prepared by ballmilling and its electrochemical properties as an anode material for lithium-ion batteries were investigated. This material presents excellent electrochemical performance with long cyclability and high specific capacity. Its specific capacity remained above 460 mAh g(-1) with 90% capacity retention after 100 cycles between 0 and 3 V at 0.3 mA cm(-2). The columbic efficiency after the second cycle was nearly 100%. The structure transformation occurring for the first lithium extraction is the key factor for the material to gain high reversible capacity. (c) 2005 The Electrochemical Society.
