Fluorophore-matrix polar aligning interactions and fluorescence depolarization in organized molecular assemblies
A problem of fluorescence depolarization in organized molecular media probed by the fluorophores undergoing polar aligning interactions, is discussed. The properties of the solution to equation of motion for rotational diffusion restricted by aligning interactions of polar character, for a symmetric rotor, are explored in a systematic way. The illustrative examples considered in this work, demonstrate that fluorophore-matrix polar aligning interactions lead to substantial, qualitative and quantitative, modification of the fluorescence depolarization in organized molecular assemblies.
