Power Input of a Close Clearance Impeller in a Highly Viscous-Liquid in a Spherical Vessel
This contribution deals with a simplified solution of laminar flow between a rotating close clearance impeller and a spherical vessel filled with highly viscous or pseudo-plastic liquids. This solution of the flow agrees fairly well with the dependence of the power number on the mixing Reynolds number following from the experiments carried out on pilot plant equipment. The most important design variable for the close clearance impeller power input appears to be the width of the slot between the impeller blade tip and the vessel wall.
