Mathematical modeling and experimental validation of an absorption-driven multiple-effect evaporator
A mathematical model has been developed to simulate the operation of an absorption-driven multiple-effect evaporator. The model is based on mass and enthalpy balances and heat transfer rate equations of the various components of the system. The model has been validated by comparing model predictions to experimental results from the operation of a four effect absorption-driven falling film evaporator coupled with a two-effect regenerator which operated using solutions of sodium hydroxide as an absorptive medium. The model predictions are in satisfactory agreement with the experimental results.
