Gibbs topological analysis for estimating phase equilibrium tie lines
A Gibbs topological analysis of the phase stability on a phase boundary is found to produce unique and physically meaningful equilibrium phase compositions, with no need for initial guesses and follow-up solution analyses. This alternative to the conventional flash is demonstrated for phase equilibria in binary and ternary mixtures. (C) 2003 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
