Effects of vessel material on the air pressure distribution within vibrating particle beds
Measurements were made of air pressure within vibrated beds of particles contained in four kinds of vessels, identical in scale but different in material. It has been shown that considerable changes occur in the air pressure distribution within the bed when vessels made of different materials were used, with other experimental conditions fixed. The difference in the air pressure distribution, due to the difference in the vessel material, decreased with increasing particle size. The relation between the wall friction and the air pressure distribution was discussed.
