Hierarchically Porous Boron Nitride/HKUST-1 Hybrid Materials: Synthesis, CO2 Adsorption Capacity, and CO2/N-2 and CO2/CH4 Selectivity
A series of hybrid materials comprising porous boron nitride and HKUST-1 (p-BN/HKUST-1) with micropore and mesopore hierarchical structures were successfully prepared by in situ growth method. The structure, morphology, and textural properties of the obtained p-BN/HKUST-1 were characterized, and the CO2 adsorption and separation performances were also studied. The results illustrate that the mesopores of p-BN/HKUST-1 are mainly produced by the accumulation of HKUST-1, and the volume of mesopores can be controlled through the content of HKUST-1 in p-BN/HKUST-1, which can be adjusted by tuning the cycle number of growth process. The mesopores play an active role in improving the quality of gas transmission and the CO2 adsorption capacity of the hybrid materials prepared at optimum conditions that reached 163 cm(3)/g at 273 K and 1 bar with excellent cyclic stability. Furthermore, the adsorptive separation selectivities for CO2/N-2 (15/85%) and CO2/CH4 (50/50%) under the same conditions predicted by the ideal adsorbed solution theory (IAST) model are 37.1 and 20.3, respectively.
