Diiron propane-1,3-dithiolate complexes with monosubstituted tri(m-tolyl)phosphine or tris(3-fluorophenyl)phosphine: synthesis, characterization, crystal structures, and electrochemistry
In this contribution, two diiron propane-1,3-dithiolate complexes with monosubstituted phosphine ligands have been synthesized and structurally characterized. Reactions of complex [Fe-2(CO)(6)(mu-SCH2CH2CH2S)] (1) with a monophosphine ligand tri(m-tolyl)phosphine or tris(3-fluorophenyl)phosphine in the presence of Me3NO center dot 2H(2)O as the CO-removing agent gave complexes2and3in 79% and 92% yields, respectively. Complexes2and3have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, NMR spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction analysis. Furthermore, the electrochemical properties of complexes2and3were studied by cyclic voltammetry.
