Anodic-Oxidation of Impure H-2 an Teflon-Bonded Pt-Ru/WO3/C Electrodes
A series of carbon supported electrocatalysts, Pt/C, Pt/WO3/C, Pt-Ru/C, and Pt-RU/WO3/C, were prepared by freeze drying and tested as Teflon-bonded electrodes in 0.5 M H2SO4 in a stream of impure hydrogen containing 100 ppm of CO at 80 degrees C. The first three catalysts were gradually poisoned and the performance was less than 100 mA/cm(2) at 200 mV vs. SHE. However, there was no change in the performance of the Teflon-bonded Pt-RU/WO3/C electrode at 220 mA/cm(2) over a test period of h.
