Antimicrobial activity of black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia L.) extracts obtained under supercritical conditions
Exts. from shreeded young shoots of black locust obtained under supercrit. conditions (300 bar, 40 degrees C) by extn. with CO2 or CO2+H2O (1% by mass), were used to det. their antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus or Escherichia coli as well as their antifungal activity against Candida albicans or Candida glabrata. In addn., the polyphenol content in both types of exts. as well as their cytotoxicity to human skin fibroblasts were detd. Exts. with CO2+ H2O showed a higher content of polyphenols, lower cytotoxicity as well as higher activity against Staphylococcus aureus than the CO2 exts.
