A novel method to prepare two-dimensional manganese dioxide and its potential application as a sensor to detect hydrogen peroxide and L-ascorbic acid in water
A sensitive sensor for the rapid detection of L-ascorbic acid (AA) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) was fabricated with two-dimensional MnO2 nanoparticles. The two-dimensional MnO2 nanoparticles are favorable for fabrication of sensors, due to its enhanced electrochemical property. The two-dimensional MnO2 nanoparticles were prepared in two different types of stirred media mills. The morphological characterization was conducted by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM). The crystal structure of MnO2 nanoparticles was characterized by X-Ray diffraction analysis. The sensor based on MnO2 nanoparticles exhibits high sensitivity due to the enhanced oxidation at two-dimensional MnO2 nanoparticles surface.
