Chemical stability and surface-enhanced Raman scattering property of platinum-modified silver nanorods
We succeeded in synthesizing Pt-modified Ag nanorods (Pt/AgNRs) by a galvanic free reaction. While by using a normal galvanic reaction, the Pt-doping process led to the morphological change of Ag nanorods, the galvanic free reaction using NaBH 4 provided Pt/AgNRs with the original rod-shape. In the chemical stability test using H2O2, we found that the stability was significantly improved by the modification of Pt. Furthermore, in the surface-enhanced Raman scattering activity test using 4-mercaptobenzoic acid as a probe molecule, the activity of the Pt/AgNRs was roughly equivalent to that of the AgNR.
