Modeling of flow resistance and concentration changes during the pressure transport of emulsion through porous media
Emulsion flow through porous media has a crucial importance in processes of enhanced oil recovery from underground reservoirs and while conducting soils remediation from organic contaminants. Predicting how flow resistance will change during flow of emulsion, through deposit structure, and estimation of how much its concentration will change is extremely important, because it allows to determine optimum process parameters. In this paper the modeling of pressure transport of diluted emulsion through a granular bed, based on the concept of capillary bundle, is presented. This model can be a useful tool to predict what flow resistance will occur during the injection of the diluted emulsion into the porous reservoir and how emulsion structure will change. The results of this work have been validated with the experimental work and high agreement has been achieved. (C) 2017 Institution of Chemical Engineers. Published by Elsevier B.V.
