Acid- or photo-cleavable polyrotaxane: Subdivision of supramolecular main-chain type polyrotaxane structure induced by acidolysis or photolysis
A polyrotaxane with end moieties cleavable by acidic fission or photolytic cleavage was synthesized by end capping with (alpha, alpha-dimethyl-3,5-dimethoxybenzyloxy) carbonyl groups. The obtained polyrotaxane was subdivided into its molecular ring and axis components after treatment with neat trifluoroacetic acid at room temperature or irradiation with a high-pressure mercury lamp.
