Sonochemical synthesis and characterization of molybdenum sulphide nanoparticles: Effect of calcination temperature
In the present study molybdenum sulphide nanoparticles were synthesized using ultrasound assisted (US) and conventional stirring (NUS) method. Synthesis of molybdenum sulphide nanoparticles was accomplished in three steps. The prepared molybdenum sulphide nanoparticles by both the methods were calcined in a muffle furnace over a temperature range of 150 degrees C to 650 degrees C at equal intervals of 100 degrees C to observe the changes in the crystal structure. Synthesized molybdenum sulphide nanoparticles were characterized using XRD, SEM, DT/TG, BET and UV vis analysis. The crystallinity of molybdenum sulphide nanoparticles synthesized using ultrasound assisted method was found to be significantly higher along with major increase in the observed absorbance under UV light compared to molybdenum sulphide nanoparticles synthesized using conventional method.
