A Study on the Preparation of Pillared-MMT
There have been significant developments in the pillaring of lamellar ionic materials, and the resulting zeolite-like pillared derivatives have built a large family of microporous materials. The intercalation of cubic octomer derived from the controlled hydrolysis of 3-amino propyltriethoxysilane with smectite clays has been studied. The organosilicon are adsorbed in amounts exceeding the cation exchange capacity of mineral. The excess quantitysis incorporated in the form of pysically adsorbed ion pairs [(H3N-Pr)8O12Si8](OH)8.
