Modeling, parameters identification and experimental validation of composite materials behavior law used in 700 bar type IV hydrogen high pressure storage vessel
This paper is written in the framework of the OSIRHYS IV project lead by CEA which aims to validate numerical model for type IV hydrogen high pressure storage vessel and to quantify uncertainties. A thermo-mechanical behavior law for composite used for the simulation of tank burst behavior is presented in this study. This behavior law takes into account several physical phenomena such as fiber breakage, matrix cracking, plasticity and delamination. Identification on wound carbon-epoxy samples and validation on wound carbon-epoxy semi-structures experimental tests are also presented in this paper. Finally, the identified material law is applied to a 2D-axi-symmetric finite elements model of the tank at three different temperatures, to analyze thermal effect on burst behavior.
