Homogenization of Non-Newtonian Petrol Coke-Water Suspension with Two-Blade Axial Stirrer
Synthesis gas can be produced by oxidation of petroleum coke-water suspensions. The non-Newtonian character of the suspension can lead to the formation of caverns, resulting in an irregular combustion. A feasibility study for the use of a RUAX (R) stirrer as a two-and three-stage system is performed with different rotational speeds for the suspension of petroleum coke in water. The rheology of a petrol coke-water suspension was estimated with different measurement methods. In a further step CFD simulations for various configurations were performed. The cavern size was determined and compared with a model from the literature.
