Effect of iron ions on struvite reaction crystallization from solutions containing phosphate(V) ions
Struvite MgNH4PO4 center dot 6H(2)O was sepd. from its diL aq. solns. by continuous reaction crystn. in presence of Fe2+ and Fe3+ ions during phosphate(V) ions recycling. Struvite crystals (16-44 mu m) produced were polluted with coppd. and cocryst. Fe(OH)(2) and Fe(OH)(3) (80-1050 mg Fe/kg). Presence of Fe ions favored crystn. of struvite as tubular crystals. The best shaped struvite crystals were produced at low concn. of Fe2+ ions.
