Morphology of gamma' precipitates in experimental W- and Re- containing Ni-base superalloys
The intermittent precipitate morphology during isothermal aging of Re- and W- containing Ni- base superalloys are quite different even though it is possible to control the final precipitate morphology to similar cuboidal shape and size in both alloys. Particle and cluster shape were determined on the basis of measurement of two independent particle parameters, namely, the perimeter (p) and area (A) of individual precipitates. It could be determined that the large particles split in the W31 alloy, while many precipitates agglomerate to form clusters in the Re31 alloy.
