Hard disk drive assembly using copper-based shape-memory alloy
In this paper, we present a study on the assembly of hard disk drive using CuZnAl shape memory alloy to replace the traditional methods by screw and/or adhesives. A finite element package, namely, Ansys, with a special material element dedicated for shape memory alloy is used to simulate the whole assembly process. The prototype demonstrates the feasibility of this method.
