Monte Carlo simulation of the high-intensity 2-axis neutron diffractometer D20
A Monte-Carlo simulation program for the high-intensity neutron powder diffractometer D20 is presented here. A discussion of the diffractometer characteristics leads to the conception of the instrument definition file. Its more complex components are discussed in detail. The code uses the McStas meta-language, specially conceived for the simulation of neutron spectrometers. Several applications will show the benefits of such a simulation for instrument development and experiment optimisation.
