Thermolysis of polanga seed cake to bio-oil using semi batch reactor
Slow pyrolysis experiments have been conducted on a sample of polanga seed cake in a semi batch stainless steel reactor to observe the influence of temperature on the yield of liquid product. The pyrolysis experiment were conducted at 20 degrees C/min rates of heating and observed that slow pyrolysis of polanga seed cake gives maximum yield of oil about 46% (volume/weight basis) at a temperature of 550 degrees C. The calorific value of pyrolytic oil is 9635.032 kcal/kg. The results show the potential of polanga seed cake as an important source of alternative fuel. (C) 2012 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
