Hydrodynamics of gas-liquid Taylor flow and liquid-solid mass transfer in mini channels: Theory and experiment
Hydrodynamics of Taylor (slug) flow in horizontal capillary with an inner diameter of 0.92 mm in water-air and glycerol solution-air systems was studied. Experimental data of bubble velocity, dynamic gas hold-up and void fraction were compared with values that were calculated by proposed earlier mathematical model of slug flow in capillary. This model is in a good agreement with experimental data in the range of capillary numbers between 0.05 and 0.12. Also liquid-solid mass transfer coefficient for slug flow and homogeneous flow was experimentally obtained in horizontal capillary with an inner diameter of 2.26 mm and 2.76 mm in a caustic soda solution-air system.
