pH-Dependent Electrochemical Behaviors of Ruthenium Complex/Carbon Nanotube Composites on Platinum and Pencil-lead Electrodes
We report the proton-coupled electron-transfer reaction of ruthenium complex bearing bis(benzimidazolyl)pyridine and pyrene anchor on single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs). The complex was attached through a pi-pi interaction between pyrene and a SWNT. Cyclic voltammetric measurements were used to characterize the pH-dependent electrochemical properties of the complex/SWNTs composites. A proton-coupled electron-transfer reaction of the composites on a pencil-lead electrode, which can be used as a pH sensor, was also demonstrated.
