Copper-modified nickel catalyst for hydrogenation of benzene. Part 1. Laboratory studies
Five Cu-modified Al2O3-supported Ni catalysts were prepd. by copptn. from aq. solns. of Ni(NO3)(2) and Cu(NO3)(2) with aq. dolns. of Na2CO3 and Na3AIO(3) at 80 degrees C and pH 7.2, calcined at 380 C and studied for activity in hydrogenation of PhH at 180-220 degrees C and selectivity in cyclohexane formation. The addn. of Cu resulted in a substantial decrease in formation of Me cyclohexane and Me cyclopentane by-products. The optimum content of CuO in the catalyst was 17% by mass.
