Hydrochlorination of gliycerol to dichloropropanols
A brief review, with 11 refs., of processes for hydrochlorination of glycerol with gaseous HCl and concd. hydrochloric acid to dichloropropanols and chloropropandiols (intermediates in prodn. of epichlorhydrin). Carboxylic acids are used as catalysts. Barbotage reactors of ideal mixing operated in a concurrent mode or a cascade of the reactors operated in a counter-current mode were recommended for the com. plants.
