Synthesis of Ce/Mo-V<inf>4</inf>O<inf>9</inf> nanoparticles with superior visible light photocatalytic activity for Rhodamine-B degradation
2018, Journal of Environmental Chemical EngineeringCitation Excerpt :Vanadium oxide 1D nanostructures have attracted the interest of many researches in the last decade due to their chemical and physical properties and their great potential for application in catalysis [13], photocatalytic activities [14], as sensors [15–18] and in electrochromic devices [19]. Supported vanadium oxide catalysts are good catalyst systems for selective oxidation and ammoxidation of organic compounds as well as for selective catalytic reduction of NO with ammonia [20–25]. The compounds of the series VnO2n+1 [26] (V2O5, V3O7, V4O9 [27–30], and V6O13) are half way between VO2and V2O5 with mixed valences for the vanadium ions V4+ and V5+.

2016, Applied Catalysis A: GeneralCitation Excerpt :The band at 1130 cm−1 ascribed to PO stretching vibration for PO4 group in AlPO4 [19]. The shoulders appeared at 725 and 880 cm−1 were attributed to VO vibrations in VO2 and V4O9 species, respectively [20]. Further, the broad nature of finger print band cannot eliminate the presence of other VO (923 and 1005 cm−1) vibrations in these catalysts.
Solvothermal synthesis of V <inf>4</inf>O <inf>9</inf> flake-like morphology and its photocatalytic application in the degradation of methylene blue
2012, Materials Research BulletinCitation Excerpt :In fact, the band at 977 cm−1 is assigned in many vanadium oxide compounds to the stretching short VO (vanadyl) bonds involving vanadium ions in the intermediate oxidation state between V5+ and V4+ ions (in distorted octahedron and pyramid). The broad band at 719 cm−1 has been assigned to vibrations of VOV chains, and band at about 542 cm−1 to their bending vibrations [19,49,50]. The UV–visible diffuse reflectance spectra of V4O9 nanoflakes and bulk V2O5 are shown in Fig. 4.
