X-ray induced cationic curing of epoxy-bonded composites
2017, European Polymer JournalCitation Excerpt :With respect to polymer technology, radiation is used to initiate polymerization and selectively alter the chemical structure of polymers, resulting in chain scission and crosslinking [5]. Typical applications are the crosslinking of polyethylene [6] for heat shrink films [7] and cable insulations, and the crosslinking of elastomers [8]. In contrast to conventional thermal processing methods, the directionality of the incident beam also allows for a spatially resolved irradiation of the product.
