Formation of nanosheets-assembled porous polymer microspheres via the combination effect of polymer crystallization and vapor-induced phase separation
2021, PolymerCitation Excerpt :The particle topographies (such as surface roughness and surface wrinkling) are of great significance to their chemical and physical properties [6–8]. Polymer microspheres can be fabricated by techniques including suspension polymerization [9], dispersion polymerization [10,11], precipitation polymerization [3,12], and microfluids assisted polymerizations [13], where the fabrication of porous microspheres is greatly dependent on sacrificial template [14–16]. In recent years, microfluidic-based techniques, with high flexibility in the selection of materials and manipulation of methods [17,18], have been in the spotlight of porous and/or surface roughened polymeric particles preparation [19–21], whereas these techniqes of drop-by-drop production greatly limit the throughput.
Core-shell microparticles: Generation approaches and applications
2020, Journal of Science: Advanced Materials and DevicesCitation Excerpt :Rudin et al. [109] produced monodisperse latex core–shell microparticles with a diameter of 3 μm via a series of consecutive seeded growth emulsion polymerizations. Laus et al. [110] prepared monodisperse polystyrene particles with diameter ranging from 3 to 10 μm. The authors used polycarboxylic acid or polyepichlorohydrine steric as a stabilizer for the shell.
